Overview

8X Ventures started in 2021 in Chennai, India. The firm opened a second office in Delhi and set up a base at the IIT Research Park in Chennai in 2023. It runs as a DeepTech venture capital firm. The team backs startups built on strong scientific and research foundations.

Investment Focus and Stage

8X Ventures backs companies at the Pre-Seed, Seed, and Series A stages, and leads at Seed and Series A. The firm invests in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, Industry 4.0, Computing, Biotech, CleanTech, and Enterprise B2B SaaS. Its first cheques from the current fund run between roughly ₹2 crore and ₹5 crore, close to $230,000 to $570,000.

Fund Size and Portfolio

8X Ventures launched its first fund in 2022, targeting India and Southeast Asia. It launched a second fund in 2024, a SEBI-registered Category II fund. This second fund carries a corpus of ₹200 crore plus a ₹100 crore greenshoe option, near $35 million in total. The firm counts more than 18 companies in its portfolio, including Pantherun Technologies, TIEA Connectors, Solinas Integrity, and Xyma Analytics. Other trackers place the count closer to 23 companies once older investments and add-ons are included.

Leadership

Chirag Gupta founded 8X Ventures and serves as Managing Partner. Esha Arya, Ajay Singh Rajput, and Vinod Agarwal serve as Partners and Board Advisors. The team includes about nine members in total
