Equanimity Investments

Equanimity Investments backs capital-efficient, technology-enabled businesses at the early stage.

Overview

Equanimity Investments is a Mumbai-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2017. The firm backs technology-enabled businesses across consumer, healthcare, fintech, mobility, logistics, education and other sectors. Its core approach is centred on finding companies that can build scalable businesses without requiring excessive capital.

Equanimity works closely with founders and combines financial investment with operational support as companies develop their products, customers and teams.

Investment Focus and Stage

Equanimity primarily invests at the pre-seed, seed and Series A stages, with typical investments ranging from $500,000 to $3 million. Its investment approach is guided by its SPEED framework, which looks at scalable business models, experienced management teams, large markets, appropriate timing, proprietary deal flow and the ability to support winners through subsequent rounds.

The firm looks for technology-led businesses with strong unit economics and a path toward sustainable growth. Its portfolio spans consumer brands, healthcare technology, fintech, EV mobility, insurance, logistics and enterprise technology.

Fund Size and Portfolio

Equanimity operates multiple SEBI-registered Alternative Investment Funds. Its first fund, Equanimity Ventures Trust, is a Category I AIF, while Fund II and Fund III operate as Category II AIFs.

The firm's portfolio includes Renée Cosmetics, Neuron Energy, Insurance Samadhan, Monitra Healthcare, Fraazo, Consint.ai, Navata Supply Chain Solutions, GrEL, Edept, Samosa Singh, Thinkly and Optimized Electrotech.

Renée Cosmetics is one of its prominent consumer investments. The beauty brand raised a $25 million Series B round with Equanimity participating alongside Evolvence India, Edelweiss Group and 9Unicorns. Neuron Energy, an electric-vehicle battery company, has also raised follow-on capital from existing investors, including Equanimity.

Recent investments include Consint.ai, an AI-based fraud and risk management platform serving healthcare and insurance providers, and Edept, an education technology company focused on higher education and the future of work.
