Flourish Ventures is a global early-stage venture capital firm focused on financial technology and financial health. Founded in 2019 after spinning out from Omidyar Network, the firm invests across the United States and emerging markets, including India, Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. It is backed by Pierre and Pam Omidyar and operates as an evergreen fund.
Investment Focus and Stage
Flourish invests primarily from pre-seed and seed through Series A and Series B. Its approach centers on companies using technology to improve how individuals and small businesses access, manage and use financial services.
Its investment themes include digital banking, embedded finance, financial infrastructure, insurtech, regtech and frontier financial technology. The firm also looks at businesses addressing financial health, access to credit, payments, insurance and financial management. Its India activity has expanded beyond traditional fintech into areas such as AI-enabled financial services, legal technology and technology supporting the transition to electric mobility.
Flourish takes a long-term approach to investing and can support companies through multiple financing rounds as they develop.
Fund Size and Portfolio
Flourish has $850 million under management and more than 100 portfolio companies globally. Its capital comes from Pierre and Pam Omidyar, with Pierre Omidyar remaining the firm's sole limited partner.
Its India portfolio includes M2P Fintech, Indifi, Scripbox, CredFlow, SalarySe, Vidyut, ApnaKlub, Aquaconnect, Kaleidofin, QueueBuster, NeoGrowth and GramCover. M2P Fintech provides API infrastructure for embedded financial products, while Vidyut uses a Battery-as-a-Service model to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible. SalarySe connects salaried professionals with credit through UPI.
Globally, Flourish has backed companies including Chime, Flutterwave, Grab Financial Group, Alloy, Paga and Kin Insurance. Several portfolio companies have progressed through multiple funding rounds, including Series B and later-stage financing.
Leadership
Tilman Ehrbeck is Co-Founder and Managing Partner. He previously led the financial inclusion practice at Omidyar Network and has spent much of his career investing in technology-driven financial services across emerging markets.
Arjuna Costa is Co-Founder and Managing Partner, with a background in venture investing and financial services. Emmalyn Shaw is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner, leading investments in the United States.
For Asia, Ravi Kaushik serves as Executive Director and Head of Asia Investments. Based in India, he leads the firm's investment activities across the region. Harsh Gupta is Principal in India, while Shivam Satija is an Investor focused on India and Southeast Asia.
