InfoEdge Ventures
InfoEdge Ventures backs Indian technology startups from seed through growth.
Overview
InfoEdge Ventures is the venture capital platform of Info Edge (India) Ltd, formally established in 2019 with support from Temasek. The platform builds on Info Edge's much longer history of investing in Indian technology businesses, including early investments in companies such as Zomato and PolicyBazaar.
Today, InfoEdge Ventures focuses on technology-enabled businesses across India and describes itself as sector agnostic. Its areas of interest include ConsumerTech, FinTech, DeepTech, Ecommerce, AgriTech, SaaS and other businesses using technology to transform consumer and enterprise experiences.
Investment Focus and Stage
InfoEdge Ventures invests primarily from Pre-Seed through Series A, while retaining the ability to participate in follow-on rounds as portfolio companies mature. Its typical cheque ranges from $300,000 to $5 million, depending on the company's stage and capital requirements.
The firm's sector-agnostic approach means it does not begin with a fixed industry list. Instead, it looks for entrepreneurs solving meaningful problems through technology and building businesses capable of reaching large markets.
Its current portfolio spans Consumer, FinTech, DeepTech, B2B Marketplaces, CleanTech, EdTech, HealthTech, Logistics and SaaS. The firm prefers to be the first institutional investor and positions itself as a long-term partner through a company's journey, with support extending toward the pre-IPO stage.
Fund Size and Portfolio
InfoEdge Ventures currently reports a $475 million fund size across its venture platform. Its registered structure includes Info Edge Venture Fund I, InfoEdge Capital and Info Edge Venture Investment Fund III, all Category II AIF structures managed by Smartweb Internet Services.
The third fund is particularly important to the platform's current expansion. Info Edge received shareholder approval to invest up to ₹1,000 crore into Info Edge Venture Investment Fund III, creating a substantially larger pool for new and follow-on startup investments.
The platform says it has partnered with 90+ early-stage, technology-enabled startups. Its portfolio includes Zomato, PolicyBazaar and BlueStone, alongside newer investments such as Truemeds, Geniemode, Attentive, Rusk Media, Matiks, Pascal AI, Biostate AI, Gnani.ai, Bachatt, Gravity, 30 Sundays and NowPurchase.
Info Edge's history also includes major investments made directly from its balance sheet before the formal venture platform was created. Zomato and PolicyBazaar remain its most prominent examples, with both eventually becoming publicly listed companies.
Leadership
Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Founder of Info Edge, remains closely involved in the investment platform. His investment philosophy is deliberately bottom-up, focusing on entrepreneurs and companies with the potential to create large categories rather than investing according to rigid sector themes.
Kitty Agarwal is a Partner at InfoEdge Ventures, while Chinmaya Sharma and Amit Behl also serve as Partners. The investment team includes Principal Ankit Garg, Principal Rishabh Katiyar, VP Sahil Dhingra, VP Kavya Tandon, Associate Saloni Verma and other investment professionals.
The team combines venture investing with the resources of Info Edge, giving portfolio companies access to experienced operators and the wider network built around businesses such as Naukri, 99acres, Jeevansathi and Shiksha.
