InnoVen Capital
InnoVen Capital provides venture debt to Indian startups from seed to pre-IPO.
Overview
InnoVen Capital is an India-focused venture debt and venture lending platform that provides capital to high-growth technology companies. Its India business has more than 12 years of investing experience and works with startups across their growth journey, from seed stage through pre-IPO.
Unlike conventional venture capital investors that primarily provide equity, InnoVen provides debt capital that can help founders extend runway, finance growth and reduce the need for immediate equity dilution. Its India portfolio spans consumer technology, fintech, SaaS, healthcare, ecommerce, logistics, enterprise technology and other technology-led businesses.
Investment Focus and Stage
InnoVen provides venture debt from the seed stage through pre-IPO. The firm can support companies across multiple stages of their lifecycle as they raise equity from institutional investors and scale their businesses.
The central proposition is additional capital without requiring founders to raise another equity round immediately. Venture debt can be used to extend runway between equity rounds, finance working capital, fund expansion or support specific growth requirements.
InnoVen describes its model around four characteristics: scalable capital, flexible and prompt financing, a founder-centric approach and cross-border support. Its ability to lend across Southeast Asian markets can also help companies with regional expansion.
The platform is sector agnostic. Its India portfolio includes businesses across consumer, fintech, SaaS, healthcare, ecommerce, logistics, mobility and enterprise technology.
Fund Size and Portfolio
InnoVen's India platform reports $1 billion-plus in capital invested across 235+ portfolio companies. These companies have collectively raised more than $32 billion in equity from investors, while 34 unicorns are part of the portfolio.
The firm also notes that almost one-third of its portfolio companies have returned for additional debt financing after subsequently raising larger equity rounds. This reflects InnoVen's role as a recurring source of growth capital rather than a one-time financing provider.
Its India portfolio includes Ather, the electric two-wheeler company; Infra.Market, a technology-enabled construction materials business; Bluestone, the jewellery company; Videoverse, a generative AI and video technology company; and Mensa Brands, the house-of-brands platform.
Other portfolio companies include Spinny, Pepperfry, Slice, Shiprocket, Geniemode, Euler, Zoomcar, Coverfox, Amaha, Rooter, Probe42, Ai Palette, Goat Brand Labs, Wellbeing Nutrition, FirstClub and Bytelearn.
Leadership
Ashish Sharma leads InnoVen Capital India as Managing Partner. He oversees the firm's India investment and venture debt activities.
Tarana Lalwani and Sameer Mansukhani are Partners on the India team, with Aditya Mathur and Nikhil Chandna serving as Directors.
The India team combines venture lending, investment and portfolio-management experience, working closely with founders and their existing equity investors to structure debt that fits each company's growth plans.
