LC Nueva

Overview

LC Nueva is an India-focused venture capital platform formed through a partnership between Singapore-based Lighthouse Canton and Delhi-based Nueva Capital. The platform was created to invest in Indian startups and combines Lighthouse Canton's institutional investment platform with the entrepreneurial and investment experience of the Chand brothers, Sohil and Ashish.

Investment Focus and Stage

LC Nueva Fund focuses on Pre-Series A and Series A investments, with a sector-agnostic mandate and a preference for health-tech, consumer-tech, fintech and education-tech. The fund deliberately avoids businesses that require heavy capital expenditure.

The investment approach is designed around taking meaningful early positions and staying involved as companies develop. LC Nueva typically takes board or observer positions and works with founders on subsequent fundraising, strategic decisions and preparation for institutional exits.

The follow-on strategy has a different mandate. LC Nueva Momentum Fund targets companies at Series A, Series B and growth stages, allowing the platform to back existing winners and pursue adjacent opportunities and secondary transactions.

Fund Size and Portfolio

LC Nueva has two principal venture vehicles.

LC Nueva Fund, its first fund, raised ₹350 crore (approximately $42 million) and reached final close in 2023. The fund was designed to invest in around 25–30 companies over its eight-year life, primarily at Pre-Series A and Series A.

LC Nueva Momentum Fund is the follow-on vehicle. It targets ₹250 crore, comprising a ₹150 crore base target and a ₹100 crore greenshoe option. The fund is designed to invest in approximately 10–15 high-growth companies, with capital allocated across Series A, Series B, growth opportunities, adjacent investments and secondaries.

The combined platform's portfolio includes Redcliffe Labs, Revfin, Namdev Finvest, HomeCapital, Grip, Saveo, Recur Club, Roadzen, Dukaan, Internshala, Financepeer, CredR, Ocean Beverages, BimaPay, UnORG, The Bread Company, Pumpumpum and Wisedrive. LC Nueva's investment in Wisedrive, for example, led a $1 million seed round in 2022.

Leadership

Sohil Chand is Founding Partner and Chief Investment Officer of LC Nueva AIF. He previously served as India Head of Norwest Venture Partners and helped establish Goldman Sachs' private equity business in India. His investment experience includes companies such as the National Stock Exchange, Swiggy, Thyrocare and Snowman Logistics.

Ashish Chand is Founding Partner. He manages investments for his family offices and has backed companies including Veeba, Roadzen and Biryani by Kilo. Before moving into investing, he built and sold a contact-centre business to iGate and was involved in the formation of Asix IT&T.

The platform also elevated Karan Gala to Partner in 2026. He has been with LC Nueva since its inception and focuses on investments across financial services, consumer and B2B businesses.
