Founded in 2004, Lok Capital is an India-focused investment firm with a long history of backing businesses serving underserved and emerging markets. Investment Focus and Stage

Lok Capital invests from Seed through Series C and growth stages, with typical investments ranging from $3 million to $10 million.

The firm's investment thesis centers on businesses expanding access to financial services, improving agricultural value chains and addressing climate and sustainability challenges. Lok typically partners with companies that have moved beyond the early proof-of-concept stage and have demonstrated the ability to scale.

Fund Size and Portfolio

Lok has raised multiple funds since its first vehicle in 2006. Lok Fund I raised $22 million, followed by Lok Fund II at $64 million and Lok Fund III at $105 million. Lok Fund IV, launched in 2022, has a target corpus of $150 million and broadened the firm's mandate to include climate and sustainability.

Across its investment platform, Lok has backed 40+ companies. Its portfolio includes Veritas Finance, Mintifi, Akshayakalpa, Aquaconnect, RenewBuy, Clean Electric, Marut Drones, Seeds Fincap, Wint Wealth, Anveshan and Saarathi Finance.

The firm has backed businesses across financial inclusion, agritech and climate technology, with several portfolio companies progressing into later-stage institutional funding and public markets.

Leadership

Vishal Mehta is Co-founder and Partner at Lok Capital and has been with the firm since its inception. He previously worked at Capital One and Siemens and has extensive experience in financial services and impact investing.

Venky Natarajan is Co-founder and Partner and has played a key role in developing Lok's investment strategy and portfolio.

Piyush Verma is Managing Director, focusing on growth-stage investments across climate and sustainability and working with portfolio companies on their next phase of expansion.
