Overview

Peak Sustainability Ventures is a Mumbai-based climate investment firm founded in 2020. It backs companies developing technologies to address environmental challenges across India, Asia, and global markets. Its investment approach combines financial returns with the commercial adoption of solutions that reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency, and support the transition to a more sustainable economy.

Investment Focus and Stage

Peak invests primarily at the Seed and Series A stages, with the ability to participate in later rounds. Its investment strategy covers four core areas: new energy, food systems, water, and climate technologies.

Within these areas, the firm looks at alternative fuels, energy storage, industrial decarbonisation, regenerative agriculture, wastewater treatment, low-carbon materials, and technologies that improve energy efficiency. It backs businesses with differentiated technology and a clear path to commercial deployment, particularly those addressing large industrial and infrastructure markets.

Fund Size and Portfolio

Peak Sustainability Venture Fund I is a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund. Its current portfolio lists 10 companies, spanning energy efficiency, hydrogen, water treatment, alternative materials, plastics, bioenergy, and green buildings.

The portfolio includes HT Materials Science, which develops additives to improve cooling-system efficiency; Hydrogen Mem-Tech, which produces membranes for hydrogen separation; Indra Water, which provides industrial wastewater treatment systems; SustLabs, which develops smart energy-monitoring technology; Chlorohemp, which produces natural fibres; Polymateria, which develops biodegradable plastic technology; Brisil Technologies, which makes low-carbon silica from rice husk ash; Ghaziabad Bio-Energy, a waste-to-energy project; Avant Wood, which develops modified timber; and Disperse Bio, which develops technology to prevent biofilm formation.

Leadership

Samir Shah is Managing Partner and leads investment and operational decisions. He brings more than 38 years of financial investment experience and over a decade of climate investing experience.

Sanjay Nayar is General Partner. He previously founded and led KKR's India business as CEO and brings more than four decades of financial-market experience.

Aakash Shah is Partner and leads investment activity across selected sectors, including new energy, food systems, water, alternative materials, and climate technology.

The investment team also includes Aadil Chitalwala, Vice President; Ahana Advani, Senior Associate; and Amay Shah, Investor.
